Keswick Hall

Trip Recap by Olivia Gawronski, Leisure Sales Manager at Calliope Collective

If you or your clients are dreaming of escaping for a quiet, luxurious wine tasting, spa, or golf weekend, look no further than Keswick Hall. Keswick Hall delivers the perfect balance of relaxation, beautiful scenery and amenities, as well as a plethora of activities to partake in on and off the property. With it being just a short fifteen-minute drive from Charlottesville, Keswick Hall is a hidden gem of Virginia wine country, perfect for a couple's getaway, ladies trip, or a men’s golf trip.

The first thing I noticed upon arrival was the personalized friendly service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the bellman and front desk agent and given a full rundown of the property. I arrived a few hours early before check in time, so this gave me time to utilize the pool area right outside the lobby, which features a large heated infinity pool overlooking the 18-hole golf course and southwest mountains providing an incredible sense of place while relaxing. It was a seamless experience ordering food and beverage service outside at the pool, as I was greeted as soon as I sat with the lunch and drink menu. The arrival in my room was nothing short of impressive. The room, boosting 500 square feet, featured a balcony overlooking the perfectly manicured greenery and golf course, a spacious bathroom with a deep soaking tub, and a fresh modern look to the entire space.

We started off the FAM trip with cocktail hour at Crawfords, the main bar located off the lobby area. Crawfords offers an inviting ambiance with a sophisticated atmosphere, featuring an extensive selection of house made cocktails, the perfect place to gather before or after dinner at Marigold by Jean-Georges, or upon arriving to kick off your stay.

We had a friendly putting contest at the Keswick Hall Golf club, which was the ideal introduction to golf for beginners, which was most of us in the group. The golf instructors mentioned that this kind of beginner contest course can be set up to different difficulty levels for guests and groups, and this is a great way to get everyone out on the Keswick Hall course which brings so many to the hotel. The golf instructors were extremely hands-on, friendly and gave us all tips to help improve our golf game little by little, which was much needed.

Next, we were off to Marigolds for dinner, the star of the show for day one of the FAM. Marigold by Jean Georges offers an elevated dining experience that also intimately connects us to our surroundings, giving us another great feeling of sense of place. Marigolds offers all fresh local ingredients which showcase seasonal produce sourced by the nearby farm. We quite literally ordered almost everything on the menu as a group as we all wanted to try a little bit of everything. The standouts were the spring pea potstickers, seasonally sourced from local ingredients, the black truffle pizza and tuna tartare. We were full but could not leave until trying the signature dessert we had heard so much about, the salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae which had us all hooked.

On day two we headed to two of the many vineyards within 30- 40 minutes of the property. Kendall the bellman personally drove us around all day from vineyard to vineyard. He was extremely friendly and has worked on the property for a while. (Another way Keswick Hall makes everything so easy for guests is offering private transfers to all the wineries in the area as well as the new BMW program, with just a swipe of your license you can rent a BMW for the entire day to explore all the surrounding area has to offer.) We first went to Pippin Hill Farm, where we participated in flight tastings and had a variety of foods to snack on for lunch. Next, we headed to King Family Vineyards, where we enjoyed a wine tasting and took in the stunning views of the mountains and horses. Most of the group’s favorite of the tasting was the Croze, named after the town “Crozet” where the winery is located. King Family Vineyards will be a must for guests to visit as they will be offering polo from Memorial Day to mid-October, where Keswick Hall will have an exclusive tent for Keswick Hall guests only. (Just another way Keswick Hall guests receive top notch service and experiences) For dinner, we headed into dinner at Tavola, in Charlottesville, a short 15-minute drive away. The rustic Italian neighborhood is a local favorite and was a great way to see a little bit of the local surroundings.

The advisors ended the FAM trip the next morning with spa treatments, which is the perfect way to end a trip that will leave you wanting to come back. The Spa at Keswick Hall offers a serene sanctuary with eight treatment rooms, one of those being a couple’s room featuring a large shower, a red-light infrared sauna, a steam room, and one of the most peaceful spa relaxation rooms I’ve ever experienced. When you step into the spa relaxation room, you are practically nestled into the nearby woodlands with the large expansive floor to ceiling windows showcasing the surrounding nature that surrounds. The tranquil setting truly is a breath of fresh air for your mind, giving you all you need to fully reconnect with yourself and relax.

A huge thank you is owed to Jake and Spencer from the Sales team. From start to finish, the FAM was extremely organized and flowed so well together all due to their attention to detail and consideration to make sure the advisors experienced what makes Keswick Hall so special. If you are based on the east coast looking for a Napa-like experience with luxurious offerings and without the hassle of traveling all the way across the country, look no further than Keswick Hall.
