A Sophisticated Venetian Retreat

The enchanting city of Venice welcomed me with its timeless elegance as I arrived at Palazzina Grassi. My visit began with a refreshing welcome drink at the bar, setting the tone for the refined experience ahead. The ambiance was instantly captivating – chic, intimate, and infused with Venetian flair.

After a relaxing evening in my beautifully eclectic Phillipe Starck designed suite filled with white furnishings, oversized mirrors, an impressive bathroom amenity offering, and their signature Venetian mask logo representing mystery and privacy with a nod to Carnival, I was ready for a day of exploring this enchanting city.

A favorite experience of the group was visiting the Bevilacqua Venetian Velvet studio where looms dating back hundreds of years clicked and hummed under master hands to create beautiful tapestries and fabrics.

I then headed to the iconic Rialto Market, gathering fresh ingredients and soaking in the bustling market atmosphere. I stopped in a tiny bar for a glass of prosecco and “Cicchetti Lunch” - a delicious spread of traditional small bites shared among new friends. A daily tradition for locals.

That night, I participated in the “Shake and Drink” experience at Palazzina’s The Bar. Guided by expert mixologists, I learned how to make a signature drink in Venice similar to an Aperol Spritz but made with a local liquor just a little more bitter called Select – delicious!

As evening descended, dinner at The Restaurant was a culinary highlight. The attentive staff and beautifully presented dishes showcased the essence of Venetian gastronomy, turning each course into a celebration of local flavors. The evening concluded with more cocktails at the bar, capping off the night in true Venetian fashion.

The next morning, I journeyed to Murano to visit Vetreria Venier where I discovered the mesmerizing craft of glassmaking. Watching artisans shape glowing molten glass into intricate works of art was both inspiring and unforgettable – a true immersion into the creative heart of the city. Then I was able to make my own certified glass under the guidance of the masters. It is harder than it looks and a bucket list experience for me.

As evening approached, the return to Palazzina Grassi was made magical with an Aperitif on Board, a scenic cruise along the canals with a local tour guide, blending sightseeing with pure relaxation. Later, I rejoined the chef at The Restaurant for another round of culinary exploration focused on seafood and of course fresh pasta.

Before departing Venice by private water taxi, I enjoyed some leisure time reflecting on the wonderful memories I had made. The combination of sophisticated hospitality, immersive experiences, and the enchanting beauty of Venice made my stay at Palazzina Grassi truly unforgettable.
